PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Kimel Estate 'AA' (227 g)
This Single Estate arabica from Papua New Guinea is very exciting and unique to our micro-lot lineup. Coffees from PNG generally resemble those of Sumatra, as the regions are so close. However what separates this bean from our usual Sumatran offerings is the processing. All coffees from PNG are processed wet - giving them a brighter and more acidic profile.
This AA Arabica is grown in a region with ample rainfall and drainage, and farmed on volcanic soil. These factors are essentially ideal for any Arabica to grow, but paired with the unique bean varietals; makes for an extremely unique cup with notes of earth and spice to round out the sweet acidity.
Tasting Notes: Orange Spice, Honey, Brown Sugar
The smell of these beans is incredible and they definitely pack a punch in terms of flavour, but they're a bit too acidic for my personal preference. Still glad to have tried this coffee.
Years ago I had the opportunity to travel to the highlands of Papua New Guinea and got to see first hand how important the coffee industry is to that country. I had the hardest time getting that coffee and surprisingly enough I didn't even like coffee that much then. Now that I am hooked I love to try small batch coffee and was crazy excited to see it offered in the small batch line up here at Java Works. Let me tell you IT DOES NOT DISAPOINT! I flew through my one and only bag and saw that it was no longer available online and I melted. Luckily Tom and the gang at Java Works were able to bring it back and I will be purchasing this as often as availability will allow. As for tasting notes....who cares its AMAZING! Let it be a surprise, just order a bag. If you are disappointed you probably like coffee in your cream....just kidding. Buy and Enjoy!
