Finca Joya Grand (227 g)
Grown in the famous Huehuetenango region in Northern Guatemala - the only region in the country without volcanic soil, this beautiful arabica has a very pronounced juicy acidity, followed by creamy chocolate notes and a full bodied finish.
Joya Grand is a third generation farm - the location so remote that farmer Austreberto Morel Hidalgo Argueta build the road to travel there himself.
This limited single origin is classified as Strictly Hard Bean (SHB), which refers to the altitude the coffee is grown at. Coffees classified SHB must be cultivated at an altitude of 1,200 or higher. Finca Joya Grand is located at nearly 2,000 m.A.S.L!
This is one fantastic small batch coffee bean!
After running the gauntlet of Javaworks Small Batch coffees and trying all but the Kona and newly added Columbian, I can say this is my favorite.
Quite a light roast, it packs lots of energy and a beautiful, smooth and fruit-forward flavor. If you are a Hummingbird drinker, I think you would find a lot to love about the Guatemala - Finca Aguas Altas.
I will certainly be a repeat buyer of this one while available!
